Music and art is a wonderful outlet for the disabled. Studies have shown that performing music enhances the disabled individual’s physical development, such as; lung power for singers, breathing techniques for instrumentalists, hand-eye coordination for pianists and motor skills for rhythmic players. It also provides a positive “uniqueness” to the individual psyche, and helps them to foster a positive self-image, which is even more difficult to develop for a disabled child or adult. The following pictures depict Mario Ferrante’s life as a disabled child pursuing his love of music and the arts, all major contributors to Mario’s psychological development.
